Privacy Policy

This is a translation of the Traditional Chinese original. If the two versions differ, the Traditional Chinese version prevails.

ChopIt (“the Service”, at https://chopit.koxu.top) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data the Service collects, how it is used, and how you can manage or delete your data.

1. Data we collect

• LINE account data: your LINE user ID and display name, obtained through LINE Login. The Service does not obtain your email address, phone number, friend list or chats.
• Ledger data you enter: ledger names, transaction amounts, currencies, descriptions, times, payers and the people sharing each expense, plus budgets, recurring transaction settings, and confirmations or questions about transactions.
• Receipt photos (optional): receipt photos you upload. Photos are resized and converted to JPEG, and embedded information such as location (GPS) and camera model is removed. Only members of that ledger can view them through the Service.
• Activity log: who added, changed or deleted what and when in a ledger. All members of the ledger can see it.
• Technical data: a cookie that keeps you signed in; cookies that remember your language and light/dark setting; per-IP request counts kept temporarily to prevent abuse (held in memory, cleared after about 15 minutes); server error logs.

2. How we use it

• To provide expense recording, splitting and settlement, and to identify you.
• To prevent abuse and keep the Service secure and stable.
• To show ads that support the Service (see section 4).

The Service does not sell your personal data.

3. Who can see your data

Members of a ledger you belong to can see your display name and every transaction in that ledger. Other users cannot see ledgers you are not part of.

4. Third-party services

• LINE (LY Corporation): sign-in.
• Google AdSense: some pages show Google ads. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services; you can turn off personalized ads in Google Ad Settings.
• Google Fonts: the site's fonts are provided by Google Fonts. When your browser downloads them it connects to Google, which receives connection information such as your IP address and browser.
• Cloudflare: network delivery and protection; it handles your connection data.
• Exchange rates (open.er-api.com): used only to look up public exchange rates. No personal data is sent.

5. Cookies

The Service uses necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to prevent cross-site request forgery (CSRF), and cookies that remember your chosen language and light/dark setting (kept for one year, stored only on your device). For third-party advertising cookies, see section 4. If you block necessary cookies you will not be able to sign in.

6. Retention and deletion

• Your data is kept until you delete the ledger or your account.
• Deleted ledgers and transactions go to the trash for 30 days, during which they can be restored. After that they are permanently deleted together with their receipt photos. You can also delete them permanently from the trash right away.
• You can delete your account on the Account page. After deletion:
  • Your LINE user ID and display name are removed immediately, and you can no longer sign in to your previous data with that account.
  • Ledgers used only by you are deleted.
  • Ledgers you created that have other members are handed over to an admin first, otherwise to the earliest member who joined.
  • Transactions you paid for or shared in other people's ledgers are kept but shown as “Deleted user”, so other members' settlements are not affected.
• The Service backs up the database and receipt photos daily. Backups are deleted automatically after 14 days, so permanently deleted data (including photos) disappears from backups within 14 days.

7. Your rights

You can view the data of ledgers you belong to, delete transactions you created, and delete your account at any time. Your display name is synced with LINE each time you sign in. For other requests about your personal data, contact us using the details below.

8. Security

The Service uses HTTPS throughout, along with CSRF protection, security headers and rate limiting. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
